Title
Fire at Fruit Packages manufacturers, 13 April 1940
Description
Fire at the former Wells Higman Basket Factory, and at the time was a Fruit Packages manufacturing company owned by H. Burr. The description on the back of the photograph indicates that the fire started at 4:10 pm on April 13, 1940. In the photograph, most of the roof and what appears to be a third story has already collapsed, and smoke is issuing from the building at all openings. Three firemen are holding up the end of the fire hose, aiming it toward what looks to be the front door of the factory. One fireman is behind the other three, kneeling down and holding the fire hose to the ground. The ground around the men is saturated with water, to the point that the water is standing in puddles.
