Title
Home of Alexander Porter, Old Mission, c. 1910
Description
Home of Alexander Porter on Old Mission, at the corner of Old Mission and Center Roads. This is not an image of the well-known Porter House hotel. Previously, this image had been identified as the "Old Porter House." It may have been colloquially called the "Old Porter House," in reference to the fact that it was owned by the elder Porter, and that his son Alfred was the owner and proprietor of a hotel on Old Mission, The Porter House. According to the current owners as of 2016, the Porter House operated under that name from 1902-1945, and was later named the Old Mission Inn. The building was demolished (date unknown), and in 1998 another residence was built on the property.
Alexander Porter's house (Alfred Porter was the owner of the Inn, and this was HIS FATHER'S house). It was located at the corner of Old Mission and Center Road. It is no longer there and there is now a yellow house that was built in 1998.
