adopted sets forth the stand that the
board of trade has taken In regard
the street railway;
WHEREAS. The board of directors
of the Traverse City board of trade
believes that the proposed Traverse
City & Peninsula electric railway wUl
be of great benefit to the penlnsuls
ad to Traverse City, and
WHEREAS. The Traterse City
council has granted a franchise giving
such railway company the right of
way through and out of Traverse City,

WHEREAS. It is required that Trav.
ae City contribute $10,000 and the
Peninsula $10,000 to ensure the build­
ing of such railway, therefore be it

trade give this project every possible
encouragement and pledge for Trav­
erse City the amount of $10,000, provid'ed a like amount is raised on the

of way secured.

Rev. Wiley K. Wright came to Trav'erse City. Jan. 1. 1895. and ope week
later. January 8. the Firtt Presbyter­
ian congregation was organized, with
SO charter meinbers, FoV three years
the congregMlon. worshipped Jn the
' Grange hall, and on Jan. 20. 1898. the
church was occupied for the first
time. In March. .1899. the interior
of tbe church was destroyed by fire.
It was repaired and rebuilt and again
opened as it stands today. In August.
1899. The lot. -building and furnish­
ings (present ah tovesUnent of about
$8,000 but the property 1*
$12,000. allowance being, made tor tbe
advance in the price of hnUdlng ma­
terial. Ih the nine years of his pas-'
torate. Rev. Wright has received 360
members Into the congregation.
